My approach
I am a wellbeing coach with a passion for helping people who are feeling overwhelmed to regain their confidence and feel more capable. I believe that everyone has a wealth of inner resources that can be rediscovered, helping you become more resilient and better able to cope with life’s challenges. One of the greatest compliments I receive from clients is:
“I feel like me again.”
My role is to guide and support you as you rediscover your own strengths. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to help you understand why you feel the way you do, while introducing practical techniques that you can continue to use long after our sessions have ended.
Rather than telling you what to do, I encourage you to identify the issues that matter most to you and to take an active role in your own healing and recovery. Sessions are always tailored to your individual needs and progress at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Choosing someone to support you with deeply personal issues is an important decision. That’s why I’m always happy to offer an informal, no-obligation conversation, giving you the opportunity to decide whether I’m the right person to help.
I work with clients both online and in person. For those who prefer a less formal setting, walk-and-talk sessions may also be possible. Many people find it easier to think, reflect and talk while walking. If this is something that interests you, I’d be happy to discuss whether it’s suitable for you.
My experience and qualifications
I have been helping people improve their health and wellbeing for more than 20 years and have worked in a wide variety of settings, including Fire and Rescue and Financial Services. As an ex-firefighter myself, I understand the impact that prolonged stress and traumatic experiences can have on people’s lives.
I am a member of the Association for Coaching and hold qualifications in management, holistic medicine and EFT Matrix Reimprinting. I have also designed and delivered stress management workshops, including workshops presented on behalf of the Stress Management Society.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
One of the approaches I use is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), sometimes known as Tapping. EFT is an evidence-based approach within Energy Psychology and has been researched in relation to anxiety, trauma (including PTSD), depression, pain and phobias.
One of the reasons I value EFT is that it can often help people work through difficult experiences without needing to describe every detail of what happened. Many people find this makes the process feel more comfortable and less overwhelming.
Another benefit is that, once learned, EFT becomes a practical self-help technique that you can continue to use independently whenever life feels stressful or challenging.
(If you’d like to learn more about the research behind EFT, you can find links to published studies and meta-analyses on the Evidence Based EFT website https://www.evidencebasedeft.com/research.)
